Y’all, this gray, dreary and muggy weather has got me draggin’ my feet. If it’s going to be this hot outside, at least bring out the sun, mother nature! All I want to do is sleep (although, that could be because of the bun I’m currently incubating). But, that’s not going to stop me from all the fun that’s happening around the Coastal Bend this weekend! It’s going to be jam-packed one with weekly and monthly favorites and  the return of the annual Buc Days festival. And, if you’ve glanced at the calendar, you’re already saying “May the Fourth be with you,” and planning a fiesta for Sunday. Let’s get it RightOn this weekend:

BUCCANEER DAYS

Downtown Corpus

The annual two-week long fiesta is back! There’s plenty to do, from the Stripes Carnival to the rodeo. We’ll highlight some of the events, but there’s plenty of fun to be had for the whole family. You’ll want to walk the plank if you don’t make it out for some of the fun! Find more information here.

ROBOTICS RODEO: Get your tech on Saturday with the Buc Days STEAM Expo at the American Bank Center, presented by Gulf Coast Growth Ventures. Students of all ages are invited to flex their tech, engineering and robotics skills to vie for $10,000 worth of prizes. The competition begins at 7 a.m.

CRAWFISH FOR A CAUSE: All-you-can-eat crawfish? Say less, fam. We love a good crawfish boil and this one just happens to coincide with Buc Days. Online ticket sales are over, but you can still snag one at the gate Saturday. The ticket will get you into festival grounds. The cookoff benefits the Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend, and attendees will enjoy those delectable mudbugs, live music and more. Teams will serve up over 15,000 pounds of crawfish while competing for $7,500 in prizes. Come hungry: the eatin’ starts at noon.

PBR – PENDLETON VELOCITY TOUR: Grab your tickets to two hours of pyro, music and intense bull riding action, filled with “heart-pounding, bone-crushing action” and a star-studded lineup of riders and animal athletes.

NIGHT PARADE: Do you have your spot staked out yet for the night parade on Saturday at 8 p.m.? Find out more information here, including the route, so you can get the best view.

PIRATE PUB CRAWL

Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 12
Downtown Corpus Christi

Chart your courses, mateys, and navigate your way through downtown to find where ‘x’ marks the hidden treasure – or liquid treasure, in this case. Snag your treasure map at Art Walk and make your way to each outpost, including RETRO, Old Kress Live, the Goldfish and more, on the pirate pub crawl. Join in on the fun by channeling your inner Captain Jack Sparrow by donning your best pirate swag.  But  don’t fall victim to scurvy – you don’t have to hit all the stops at once: the crawl lasts throughout Buc Days. Please drink responsibly (…but, still, why is all the rum gone?)

It’s the first Friday of the month, so you know what that means: ARTWALK! Head downtown and catch your favorite local vendors and artisans, groove to live music and nosh on delicious meals from the coolest food trucks.
